B'desh PM's flight glitch: Seven Biman officials arrested
Dhaka [Bangladesh], Dec. 22 (ANI): Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested seven Biman officials in connection with the emergency landing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's aircraft en-route Hungary.
CTTC Deputy Commissioner Mohibul Islam Khan confirmed the arrests.
Earlier, Biman Director MAM Asaduzzaman filed a case under the Special Powers Act with the airport police on Tuesday night, accusing nine of its engineers who had been suspended based on preliminary findings, reports the Dhaka Tribune.
Accepting the case, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Golam Nabi asked the airport police to submit the report by January 12.
The probe reports submitted to the government have found that human negligence caused the technical problem. The final report was handed over to Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon on December 18, by the Ministry.
On November 23, the VVIP flight carrying Prime Minister Hasina was forced to make an emergency landing at the Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan while she was on her way to attend the UN Water Summit in Budapest.
The plane was carrying 99 passengers including Hasina. (ANI)
