Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s statue vandalised in Allahabad
New Delhi, March 31: Unidentified miscreants in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday vandalised the statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in Trans Ganga area of Allahabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
Media reports said the incident took place at Trivenipuram, ADA park colony area under Jhunsi police station. After people started gathering at the spot, police were called in to maintain law and order.
According to reports Superintendent of Police (Trans Ganga) S K Singh said a team has been formed to arrest the person involved in vandalising the statue of the Dalit icon. He added that local people were demanding replacement of the vandalised statue with a new one.
Following the incident, senior police and administrative officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Officials assured to install a new statue at the earliest.
