Data war intensifies with Jio; BSNL announced 1GB data for 1 Rupee

New Delhi, Sep 03: Mobile customers are in for some real delight this festive season. A day after Reliance announced world’s cheapest data plan starting as low as Rs 50 for 1 GB, State-run telecom firm BSNL has announced its too-good-to-be-true data plan.

As per the new data plan, BSNL will offer 1GB data at a meager rupee 1.

BSNL’s promotional unlimited wireline broadband plan effectively translates into less than Re 1 per GB download cost for subscribers if they use up to 300GB data in a month.

BSNL’s new plan –Experience Unlimited BB 249 will start from September 9, 2016.

Under this plan, customers can download unlimited Broadband data without bothering about any data limit in GB. BSNL shall offer 2 Mbps speed under this plan.

If customers use the plan continuously in a month, they can download upto 300 GB data by paying Rs 249.

Thus, the per GB of data download cost comes out as less than Re 1. After six months, customer will be migrated to one of the regular broadband plan based on the choice of the customer.
