Dortmund hands temporary suspension to striker Aubameyang
Dortmund (Germany), Nov 3 (IANS) German football club Borussia Dortmund’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been suspended temporarily for travelling to the Italian city of Milan without permission.
Aubameyang watched from the stands his team’s Champions League match that Dortmund won 1-0 against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday, reports Efe.
The player had travelled in a private plane to the Italian city on Monday, accompanied by some friends, and came late to Dortmund’s training the next day, the daily Bild reported on Thursday.
The absence of the player from the field on Wednesday was the highlight of the match, during which the cameras focused on him as he was sitting in the stands with his brother, and left the match before it ended.
Coach Thomas Tuchel avoided giving explanations on the causes of the suspension and merely pointed out that it was for a single match.
