ED obtains non-bailable arrest warrant against Kashmiri separatist Shabir Shah
NEW DELHI,July3: The Enforcement Directorate has obtained a non-bailable arrest warrantagainst Kashmiri separatist Shabir Shah and he is likely to be arrested this week after he refused to obey summons issued by agencies at least eight times in the last two years for allegedly receiving money from Pakistan through hawala channels.
“Shabir Shah was given sufficient opportunities to appear before the directorate through summons but he wilfully avoided the investigation without any reasonable cause,” a senior ED official said, confirming that the agency would arrest him this week.
The ED probe found Shah had acquired property in and around Delhi and in other parts of the country with unaccounted money. “The source of money through which he has acquired these properties are not known and he has been asked to join probe to give proof of income for acquiring such assets,” the official said.
