Fake photo of Vijeta Malik, a BJP Haryana State Executive member being harassed, posted
Chandigarh,July8:The picture is arresting. A, presumably, “Hindu” woman crouches, her face writ with distress. Her hands clutch at the pallu of her saree, as some unseen villain pulls it violently. A large crowd looks on in vicarious anticipation.
The picture alone is enough to ignite the minds of crowds. Place it in a Facebook post in the communally charged cauldron of Bengal, with words implying that the “Hindu” has no safety and no protection from the state government, and the intention is clear – to provoke a particular community’s anger and rage. This when the state of Bengal is slowly returning to normalcy, after a communal violence triggered due to a facebook post.
But here is the astounding truth.
The picture is fake. A doctored still from a Bhojpuri movie “Aurat Khilona Nahi”(starring, ironically, a major BJP leader, Manoj Tiwari) and the person posting the fake on Facebook – Vijeta Malik, a BJP Haryana State Executive member.
In a clear demonstration of how loose cannons in the BJP stoke communal tensions, the lady brazenly posted this picture and message, spreading it through the social media and garnering hundreds of likes on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
