Foundation laid for Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology

Noida, Oct 28 (IANS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology here on Friday.

The institute is to be built in the Institutional Area, Knowledge Park-II, in Greater Noida.

“The new building of the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology is being constructed at a cost of Rs 300 crore,” Singh said.

“Indian culture is one of the oldest in the world and the institute will help in finding out the roots of our ancient rich cultural heritage,” he added.

Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma said the government is celebrating the birth centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya this year and has decided to dedicate the new building to the late ideologue of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the BJP.

“It will also have an archaeological museum spread over an area of 14,000 square metres, residential buildings, hostel facilities for both boys and girls and a cafeteria,” he added.
