Gurugram to host Pravasi Haryana Divas

Gurugram, Jan 9 (IANS) The city of Gurugram will get a facelift as the government of Haryana with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as its national partner is all set to host two-day celebrations of Pravasi Haryana Divas from Tuesday, an official said on Monday.

The event will be organised at Kingdom of Dreams in Sector 29, Gurugram.

All roads leading to the venue have been spruced up and decked up. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union ministers are scheduled to attend the event.

The event aims not only to honour the great enterprise of people from Haryana, who have made a mark for themselves all over the world, but also to offer an opportunity to the non-resident Haryanvis to see how well their home state has changed on way of rapid industrial development.

The occasion will be special for 19 noted personalities who hail from Haryana and will be honoured with ‘Gaurav Samman’ on January 11.

“These include Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda, singer Sonu Nigam, Ritu Sheoran and Vikas Sheoran from Melbourne, Australia, in Art and Culture category and many others,” an official said.

Sports icons, including Paralympians, boxers, wrestlers, cricketers and others, will also mark their presence.

“B.L. Chawla, father of late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, will receive the Special Achievement Award, which will be conferred posthumously on Kalpana. Vinod Dham, an NRI from Haryana, who is known as ‘Father of Pentium’, would also to be honoured at the function,” an official added.

Several state and Union ministers will attend the event. Some MoUs are also expected to be signed during the two-day event.
