Hamas hails Egypt court overturning Morsi life sentence
Gaza, Nov 22 (IANS) The Hamas movement on Tuesday hailed an Egypt court’s order to overturn former Islamic President Mohamed Morsi’s life sentence and a retrial in the case relating to communicating with the movement.
Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman, said the court ruling “certifies that Egypt is still concerned about the Palestinian cause and stands to the side of all Palestinian powers and parties”, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Court of Cassation ruled earlier in the day that former President Mohamed Morsi and 21 others will be retried.
Morsi and the 21 leaders, members of the Muslim Brotherhood, were earlier accused of collaborating with Hamas.
