I do theatre for timepass, films for passion and money: Ranvir Shorey
Mumbai, Nov 15 (IANS) Actor Ranvir Shorey, who also spends a lot of time pursuing theatre, says he explores the medium to pass time, but films is something he does not just for money, but passion too.
“I do theatre for timepass and I do films for my passion and money. I believe that in theatre, people work a lot and spend so much time on it. But theatre doesn’t pay that much, not just in terms of money, but also in terms of reach,” Ranvir said here.
“I also feel that in front of the camera, as an actor, you can pull off more than as an actor on stage. So for me, cinema is number one, frankly,” he added.
Ranvir is known for his films including “Mixed Doubles”, “Bheja Fry” and “Traffic Signal”. Often seen in content driven films, the actor says that for him, filmmaking is a collaborative act.
“I am a director’s actor because when I am on sets, I see to it how can I satisfy my director with my work. I like to work with people who are open to contribution.
“If your script is good, you have won half the battle. I try to insist that the script should be good,” he added.
Ranvir will now be seen in “Moh Maya Money”. Written and directed by Munish Bhardwaj, the film which also stars Neha Dhupia, is slated to release on November 25.
The film is a take on a couple caught in the greed of our times and whose life spirals out of control.
