Khwahishein is sequel to earlier publication Salwatein: poetess Shailyy
New Delhi [India], Mar. 23 (ANI): Shailyy- a born poetess, whose first story was published in Nandan at a tender age of 13 years, has many accolades to her credit.
She has won many National awards at school and college level in poetry and prose. Prizes won by her include First prize- Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust essay competition 1991, Second prize – Age Care Trust India essay competition 1992, First prize – The Young Times of India story writing competition 1992, and First prize – Delhi University Poetry Competition 1994.
Renowned poet Surendra Sharma, while launching the book on Friday at Islamic Centre at New Delhi said Shailyy is a rare combination who is a prose writer as well as a poet, it is wonderful to see a prose writer being equally successful as a poet.
Because in prose every detail is elaborated, while in poetry all details are condensed into a single word / sentence. A person can either be a successful poet of a prose writer.
"Khwahishein is the second compilation of hindi-urdu poetry, the first being a bestseller 'Salwatein'. This book exuberantly exudes sentiments of love, romance and heart-break," said the poetess who penned her own experiences in life and all that she had seen around propelled her to put love and emotions into meaningful poetry.
Apart from being a successful writer, Shailyy is also a renowned Astrologer practicing Astro consultancy with a vast clientele in America and European countries.
Khwahishein is a compilation of Hindi Urdu poems, which was launched at Islamic Centre, New Delhi, with chief guests cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Surendra Sharma. (ANI)
