Mysterious deaths and killing of Niali sheep prompts search operation in the nearest forest at Bansahi village
Cuttack,June27: The panic-stricken people of Niali and police forces carried out a search operation in the nearest forest at Bansahi village last night to trace the mysterious killer that has been killing large number of sheep since last few days. The forest officials and police had on Monday suspected wild animals killing the sheep in Niali area,
A team of OTV also took part in the operation accompanying the villagers in the night. Two officials of Niali police station were mobilised to guard the village.
However, they failed to find out the killer animal even after a night-long search. Earlier in the evening, a team of forest officials and Cuttack DCP visited the spot and took stock of the situation. They advised the people not to get scared over any rumours.
Meanwhile, villagers alleged administrative apathy towards their plight. “We are yet to get any assistance from the district administration. Several animals died and our people were injured. If the administration fails to give special attention to the incident, it would create more trouble for us,” a local resident said.
On the other hand, a three-member team of Animal Disease and Research Institute collected the sample of dead lambs.
The people have been in a state of panic for last four months as around 150 domestic animals were killed in mysterious attacks.
