Rijiju flays ‘politicisation’ of Madhya Pradesh gunbattle

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday lashed out at the political detractors and for making attempts to politicise the issues

concerning safety and security.

“First of all we should stop this habit of raising doubts and questioning the authorities and police. This is not a good culture,” Rijiju told reporters.

He lamented that the people “have developed an habit of raising unnecessary doubts” on the conduct of security personnel and police in India.

Answering questions on whether the Madhya Pradesh police had carried out a fake shootout, Rijiju said, “I am not dismissing anything”.

But, he also rejected suggestions that enough credence should be given to so called ‘video clippings’ – as reported in the media.

“Merely on the basis of video clips and some papers, you cannot raise alarm bell like that. Things will come out. We are not here to sit and pass judgement like that,” the minister said.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister like M Venkaiah Naidu and BJP spokesman Shrikant Sharma have criticised the manner opposition parties including the Congress, BSP and the Communist Party of India (CPI) have questioned the authenticity of the gunbattle carried out by Madhya Pradesh police in which eight under trial SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) activists were killed.
