Syrian ‘Twitter girl’ meets Lindsay Lohan, Erdogan
Ankara, Jan 28 (IANS) The seven-year-old Syrian girl who has garnered worldwide attention by tweeting about her life in Aleppo met US actress Lindsay Lohan here.
Bana Alabed, along with Lohan, also met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, the second time after she evacuated to Turkey last December, Xinhua news agency reported.
Alabed, who had used photos, videos or periscopes showing details of life in war-torn Aleppo, tweeted on a Periscope video with Lohan, writing “I have a new friend Lindsay Lohan.”
Lohan, who has been in the country for the past few days, says in the video that the pair are “sending lots of love and life and blessings” to refugees and people in Syria.
The short clip shows Bana hugging the actress, who tells the camera: “We want to send to all of the people in Syria and Aleppo suffering and to all the refugees we are here supporting you and you can hang on and be strong just like Bana has.”
Alabed recently penned an open letter to new US President Donald Trump, asking him to “do something for the children of Syria.”
