Think to Serve Country, Not Only Community: Rajasthan HC to Hardik Patel

Ahmedabad, Sep 06: Hardik Patel, PAAS spread head is asked upon to widen up the thinking and pay attention to serve the nation and not only the community by the Rajasthan high court. The PAAS convener is in exile in Udaipur following the Gujarat high court’s bail condition.

During the hearing of the habeas corpus petition on Monday which is moved by Hardik Patel, the division bench, headed by justice GK Vyas said in his oral comments to quota leader that Patel’s efforts for his community should instead be for the nation and the other weaker sections of society.

“You belong to the community and the state of Sardar Patel. He had worked for the integration of the entire nation and not for a community,” commented justice G K Vyas.

He further asked, “Is it becoming of you to work for a specific community despite being from Patel’s land and his community? He had put his entire might and life for this nation.”

The specific comments were made I the court after the advocate for Patel, Rafeek Lokhandwala argued that his client was not on a personal mission. He told that he has been fighting for the reservation of a community and wanted to discuss and talk with the people in this connection.

“But he was not being allowed to come out of the house and meet people and has been kept under house arrest in violation of the order of the Gujarat High Court,” argued Lokhandwala.

In reply, the additional advocate general PS Bhati protested Patel’s request, at variance that whatever actions have been taken by the state government concerning Patel in Udaipur, were in keeping with the previous record of Patel in Gujarat.

“Patel had kicked off a violent movement in Gujarat, which had damaged not only public and private properties but dealt a severe blow to the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Apprehending similar circumstances in Rajasthan, the government has been taking every possible precaution,” advocate general told.

He argued that Patel’s protection was also imperative and demanding in view of the spurt in the number of enemies Patel, on account of his spearheading the reservation movement, had made.

Before this, the investigating official of a case against Patel for intimidating and causing confusion at a toll plaza on Udaipur-Nathwara highway, appeared in the court and produced the case diary along with the video footages of the incident.
