New Delhi July 22:BJP-ruled states of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan have reported the highest rates of crimes against Scheduled Castes in 2015, report compiled by National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has revealed that the Dalit community was vulnerable in the PM’s home state.

The statistics show an almost 40% increase in incidence of crime against Dalits across India between 2011- 2014.

In 2015, Gujarat reported the highest crime rate against Dalits (163.3%, 6,655 cases). Chhattisgarh came second  (91.9%, 3,008 cases), followed by Rajasthan (58.5%, 7,144 cases) and Bihar (43%, 7,121 cases).

Uttar Pradesh ruled by the SP  (8,946) reported the most number of cases of crime against Dalits. The crime rate against Dalits in UP is only 21.6%

Addressing the meeting, Social Justice minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot said there had been a rise in cases of atrocities against people of reserved class.

“It is a matter of concern for us. If  cases happen, states must ensure speedy and prompt justice to victims,” the minister said. that such things should not happen.

These figures will give fresh ammunition to the Opposition, which has in Parliament targeted the Centre for the issue of violence against Dalits and minorities in the country.

The main opposition Congress, has accused the Modi government of unleashing “social terror” in the country.
