Here’s how Navjot Singh Sidhu will change the game for AAP IN 2017 Punjab Polls

New Delhi, July 19: In a shocking incident, Navjot Singh Sidhu who is a cricketer turned politician resigned from Rajya Sabha yesterday. He was nominated as a MP and now is all set to join AAP.
Sidhu, who is now mostly seen on TV comedy shows and cricket commentaries, is likely to be declared the AAP’s CM face in the forthcoming Punjab elections.
For AAP it is the perfect opportunity to capture power in Punjab with Sidhu joining their party. The reason why it is the correct time for AAP to have Sidhu in the party is because Sidhu will fill up the place of Chief Minister for poll bound Punjab which the party failed to do.
However, currently Sidhu hasn’t confirmed on joining the party but if he does, he will come out to be a strong contender for CM’s seat from AAP party.
‘’Within Punjab, Sidhu is a serious political contender who has managed to cast an independent anti-Badal image of himself’’, reports Huffington Post.
It won’t be wrong to say that AAP itself holds a strong place in Punjab in upcoming 2017 assembly elections. But Congress is not far behind from them as they have Captain Amarinder Singh as the face of their party. And only Sidhu is the perfect jatt for a state which consists of more than 40% jatts among the total state population and a will give tough competition to his opposition – Captain Amarinder Singh.
“Talks with Sidhu have been going on for the past two –three days. If he decides to join AAP we will welcome him with open arms,” Chottepur said as reported by Hindustan Times.
According to reports, Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is BJP’s parliamentary secretary in Punjab, too, resigned from the party.
The reason being why both husband and wife quit the BJP is BJP’s affectionate conmnection with SAD’s family. BJP certainly do share good terms with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family where as Sidhu has come long way to prove himself an anti-badal.
The Sidhus wanted the party to cut off ties with the SAD. However, when the party refused to do so, Sidhu declared that he and his wife would not campaign in Punjab Assembly polls and contest under the present alliance respectively.
Considering the fact, Sidhu chose the opening day of monsoon session to resign from the upper house has caught a lot of attention. Sooner or later it will emerge as a ‘punch in the face’ of BJP party and also his image will turn in to a candidate who led down his own party leader and country Prime Minister himself.
