Finally D-day is here and fans can’t have enough of it. The much awaited movie opened amid catcalls, flashing camera lights and throngs of die –hard fans eager to watch the Thalaivar movie which came after a gap of few years.
Directed by Pa.Ranjith, the film follows the story of the story of Kabali, an aging gangster who after spending years in prison for killing his aid is finally released. Kabali walks out a changed man but nevertheless troubled by few events and it out searching answers for them. Set in the backdrop of the Tamil Malay tension in Malaysia the plot line follows the rise of the oppressed to the top with a round of cleansing led by none other than our one and only.
Although the story line is being drubbed for being a tad predictable with obvious twists and reunions, the comforting idea of triumph of good over evil has been handled well.
Peppered with ample iconic scenes, most of which sent fans into a tizzy with feverish rounds of claps and showers of flowers onto the screens, the movie is definitely an entertainment for all. The thrilling scene, which became all too famous thanks to the leak, saw Rajnikanth testing his fitness with a round of pull-ups on a cross bar just before he’s released after serving his term.
The actor handles the movie with the casual ease of a veteran and proves himself to be a class-apart. Radhika Apte , who potrays his wife in the move has also given it her best and graces the movie with a solid performance. The movie’s music has been done by Santhosh Narayananand scores well.
