Media brawl between NDTV anchor Barkha Dutt and Times Now anchor Arnab Goswami on selective reporting and taking sides

New Delhi July 29:The war of words between two well known faces of Indian journalism – Arnab Goswami and Barkha Dutt – has divided people and media fraternity. The two anchors are busy in accusing each other of defaming media, Harsha Bhogle defined the role of a journalist in a sensible way. A day after Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of Times Now, suggested the government to put those journalists on trial who are taking side of Pakistan calling them ISI agent, NDTV anchor Barkha Dutt slammed him for asking restriction on a section of media.

Barkha reacted with a Facebook post to Arnab’s tweet

Barkha was chided with Facebook comments for her one sided support of the Congress and the Radia tapes coverage and her selective reporting and calling the killed Burhan Wani ,the son of a schoolmaster and not a terrorist by being Pro Pakistani and not supportive of the dead Kashmiris . Many social netizens supported Arnab by saying that he was entitled to his own opinion and views.

Barkha accuses Arnab also of selective reporting  and hypocrisy in not reporting the BJP-PDP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir .

She questions arnabs motives on nationalism referring to a  confessional video of a Pakistani terrorist caught alive; and the Lashkar Terrorist-in-Chief Hafiz Saeed openly claiming Burhan Wani as his own and admitting to his men leading some of the Kashmir protests.

But the Home Minister  Rajnath  visiting  Islamabad for a SAARC meet.

” Admittedly, it’s a multilateral forum and not a bilateral meet (and I think he must go), but by the ‘nationalism’ tests of Times Now, to even attend a literary festival in Karachi is to violate the tenets of your citizenship. “,as quoted by Barkha.

She critiqued Arnab for not having an open criticism of the Modi government .

Barkha questioned Mr Goswami open supported the gagging of the Leslee Udwin documentary on the Nirbhaya gang rape scheduled for telecast on NDTV 24×7.

Barkha questioned Arnab’s absence  the open support to slogans by Kanhaiya Kumar as well as journalists showed solidarity and marched in protest against the thugs who assaulted reporters at Patiala House, Mr Goswami and his senior editorial team were conspicuously absent at the protests.

Mr Goswami runs out of reasons to whip up narrow-minded frenzy he may, in desperation, fall back on a video in which Hafiz Saeed using Barkha’s name.

She criticizes Arnab for calling for Indian media censorship, wanting to gag free expression, kill nuance, distort the truth and send journalists to jail.

She chided Arnab for taking sides ,calling his reporting a cowardice and telling him that she is insulted by his rants.
