New Delhi, August 9: Sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) told the media that no suicide note was found, adding to the speculation that depression could be the reason behind the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul.

Situation remained tense in Arunachal Pradesh after supporters gheraoed the Chief Minister’s Residence, where former CM Kalikho Pul was found dead earlier today.

Pul was the chief minister for around four months after the state was placed under President’s Rule following a series of dramatic developments, which witnessed the Congress government being voted out by party rebels along with the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Expressing shock over the matter, Communist Party ofIndia (CPI) leader D. Raja told ANI on Tuesday that the government must probe the matter, and tell the country what happened.

“The court verdict went against the Union Government and in such a situation, the former chief minister committing suicide is really quiet shocking. It is for the government to investigate and probe the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile, Assam Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi also condoled Pul’s demise and said north-east has lost a young leader.

“It’s an extremely sad moment. We did not expect this decision of the former CM Mr. Pul,” Gogoi told the media here. “It is very difficult to do politics in the north-east; there are a lot of challenges. So, when he had taken a step to enter politics, I am sure he must have had long dreams and huge expectations from Arunachal Pradesh. Those dreams remained unfulfilled,” he added.

Gogoi also assured support to the former chief minister’s family in this hour of grief.
