Nowhatta attack: Terrorist target CRPF unit; 6 personnels injured in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 15: At the time when India is celebrating 70th Independence Day, terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Nowhatta area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.It is reported that 6 personnels are injured while an exchange of fire is underway.
According to initial reports, militants opened fire on security forces in Nowhatta area injuring at least 6 jawans. Security forces have cordoned off the area and heavy exchange of fire in going on. Six CRPF jawan who got injured during the exchange of fire were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Three terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area.
“Militants attacked a CRPF post in Khanyar area,” a police official told IANS. The attack came despite curfew in Srinagar to prevent violence on India’s 70th Independence Day.
The terror strike was carried out when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi was delivering his speech on the 70th Independence Day from the historical Red Fort in Delhi. Militants attacked the CRPF post, while the Prime Minister was speaking on terrorism and violence.
“A strong country cannot be build without a strong society which is based on social justice. Country will not yield to terrorism and extremism,” said Narendra Modi from the Red Fort. The Prime Minister also asked youth to shun violence and return to mainstream. More details are awaited.
