Search operations in Mahad bridge tragedy continue; 26 bodies recovered so far

Mahad, August 8: Search operations have begun this morning in Mahad by rescue teams in the bridge collapse tragedy that left many dead and many missing. Till now 26 bodies have been retrieved from the river while the total number of missing people is 41.

Of the 23 bodies that were identified yesterday; 10 were passengers from the Rajapur – Borivali bus, seven from Jaigad – Mumbai bus and remaining six were from private cars that had fallen into the raging river after the colonial era bridge collapsed.

In the tragic mishap that happened Tuesday night, two State Transport buses and two private cars fell into the river Savitri, along with 38 passengers.
