Haryana July 25:The Dhamma Chetna Yatra by 80 odd monks which started in Sarnath on April 24 and  was aimed at wooing OBC and Dalit community has backfired and hit a roadblock at Naurangabad.

The yatra, which was supervised by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Narendra Modi is most likely to address the yatra’s concluding ceremony on October 14 in Lucknow.

The yatra, earlier has make news that Dhamma Viriyo, an 87 year old monk, of the Akhil Bharatiya Sangha Nayak of the Bharatiya Bhikku Maha Sangha, is telling the people that while BSP supremo Mayawati refused him  and audience, PM Modi went out of his way to honour him at Mhow, the birth place of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar.

The BJP in a process of weaning away the Dalit vote from Mayawati and targeting the non-Yadav OBC vote in UP, had organized this yatra.

Several Dalits and other backward caste people in the state have adopted Buddhism, freeing themselves from the clutches of caste-based discrimination like untouchability.

A large section of Dalits and Jatavs disrupted the meeting expressing their displeasure over that presence of the local BJP leaders. The Buddhist monks had to tell the leaders to leave as the crowd would not leave until the leaders left.

Both the BJP and the Buddhists are red faced and embarrassed over the incident.

While asking the BJP leaders to leave, the monks told them “not to do politics of votes at our spiritual campaign”.

The protesters raised anti Modi  and pro Vemula slogans during their presence at the Vihar

Several BJP leaders couldn’t enter the premises of Baudh Vihar as hundreds of Dalits and Jatavs, allegedly backed by BSP, announced to boycott the party.

The BSP president had denied any involvement of the party .

In its six-month-long run, the yatra will cover each of the 75 districts in Haryana. BJP national president Amit Shah will be in Agra to greet the monks on July 31.
