July 23 : A Syrian news service, Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media is circulating pictures of Syrian children holding the posters of Pokemon characters with a message written on it ‘come and save me’.

The photos are going viral on two social media platforms which include Facebook and Twitter. One of the users on Twitter posted the picture with following text – ‘the Pokemon game you have not seen before’.

According to reports in The Independent, ‘’The Syria Solidarity Campaign (SSC), a UK-based organisation that offers political solidarity to the Syrian Revolution, wrote: Syrians have more pressing concerns than catching Pokemon. If only augmented reality could save lives here is Syria.”

The motive of the media agency behind circulating the pictures is to turn the attention of world from the game to Syria happenings. A war that began in 2011 is still continuing and killing people in millions. Many are forced to flee their homes and lost lives while crossing the border through sea.

A spokesperon for RFS, which is based in Turkey and has reporters in Syrian cities, told The Independent: “With the media spread wide for Pokemon game we decided to publish these images to highlight the suffering of the Syrian people from the bombing of the forces of order and Air-Assad to the Syrian people and besiege them.

The images were posted online after a massive attack killed more than 50 civilians in Syria who were mostly women and children. ‘’The locations given are near the cities of Hama and Idlib, which have seen years of heavy fighting and aerial bombardment and are currently held by forces opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’, reports The New Indian Express.
