Chennai: A Tamil newspaper has received a letter threatening an attack kind of like the one on the office of French sarcastic magazine Charlie Hebdo, police said.
“We have received the letter from the newspaper and a search is on,” a senior police official aforesaid.
The letter, typewritten in English, says, “Yesterday-Paris Charlie Hebdo, Tomorrow – Dinamalar.” The words seem against the background of India’s map.
The letter was sent by post by unidentified components claiming to belong to an outfit referred to as “The Base Moment,” and said to be based mostly at “3/10, Ukkadam, Kovai, Tamil Nadu, India.”
Below the map may be a image of Osama terrorist and also the words “By Al al-Qaeda,” and a few Arabic words showing sort of a signature, the police official said.
“It may be a fictitious outfit or somebody is also attempting to play mischief or it’s going to have another motive. we have a tendency to don’t understand, solely once the probe’s completion we’ll be able to comment,” the official said, declining to elaborate.
Security personnel are deployed at the office of the newspaper.
