Bengaluru, August 4: After the Royal City of Mysuru witnessed a royal wedding, now the traditional city is gearing up to be dressed like a bride all over again to host the historic ‘Dasara’ festival.

Speaking about the same, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that last year, the festival was celebrated in a simple manner as the state was reeling under drought, but this year, all efforts would be made to celebrate the festival in a way that it hogs international limelight.

Dasara celebrations will begin on October 1 and end of October 11 with Vijayadashami.

The CM said that preparations for the festival in general and exhibition stalls in particular would be made well in advance.

“The government has selected four names for the inauguration and high end committee will finalise the name in a meeting to be convened on August 9. Prof Nisar Ahamad, Shivarathreshwara Swami, Cricket Sachin Tendulkar and writer SL Bhyrappa’s names have been chosen as of now for the iauguration of Dasara,” he said.

Last year, government allocated Rs 4 crore for dasara and this time it is expected allocate around Rs 6 crore and ministry for Kannada and culture will send the required fund to conduct Dasara celebrations, CM said.
