Does Your Rajdhani Express ticket is unconfirmed? Soon You can opt to fly with Air India
New Delhi, October 23: Still worried that how will you travel without unconfirmed tickets in Rajdhani express?
Do not worry at all as there is a good news for the passengers of Rajdhani Express if the train tickets are not confirmed. The passengers with unconfirmed AC tickets for Rajdhani Express can soon fly to their destination. Ashwani Lohani, the Chairman of the Indian Railway board planned this decision when he was the former Chairman and Managing Director of Air India last summer, but the railways did not react in a positive way.
Ashwani Lohani said that if Air India approaches us with this proposal, we will accept it. A large number of people end up with unconfirmed AC-II Rajdhani tickets almost every day due to a severe demand-supply crunch in the railways.
Ashwani Lohani said that the contact details of people could be automatically shared with Air India, which could offer them seats on flights for the same destination at competitive rates. He said that this is the first time I am hearing of such a proposal. The fares in AC-II Rajdhani are more or less similar to airfares.
Still, this proposal needs to confirmed by the airlines. A benefit of having a government-owned airline is that railways can transfer its unconfirmed premium passengers to state-owned Air India.
Rajiv Bansal, Senior IAS officer who was given charge as Air India chairman for three months in August-end said cannot immediately comment on the proposal. He said that this is the first time I am hearing of such a thing. There is the difference in train and airfares.
Previously also, Ashwani Lohani came up with the train-air switch idea, Air India also decided to match Rajdhani AC-II fares on important metro routes like Delhi to Mumbai. But at present, the main focus of the airlines is to safely run its flights on time.
